It’s taken eight years to build all 500 of the promised Bugatti Chiron supercars, but the French-German automaker has finally completed its production run with a special celebratory Super Sport model covered in tons of interesting details that tell the story of the iconic car’s life arc. Here’s the details that will make this one extra special.

The Chiron initially debuted in Geneva back in 2016 as the much-hyped successor to the Veyron supercar, keeping the W-16 powerplant alive in a new body. Now, under new leadership from Mate Rimac of EV hypercar fame, Bugatti has developed an all-new 16-cylinder engine for an all-new model, but not before this one last Chiron ships out.

The Chiron Super Sport, good for around 1,500 horsepower and a top speed of more than 300 mph, is unlike any other car on sale today. And now it’s no longer even on sale. This last one is built, and it reimagines the original show car, now with plenty of story from the Chiron’s production and sales life since 2016.

The 500th car copies the original show car’s underlying paint scheme of Atlantic and French Racing blue hues, now covered in a livery tribute to where the car has left its mark over the past decade. Differently-colored paint-matched wheels compliment the new fading paintwork of the body. The bodywork is covered in hand-written places and events that helped build the legend of the Chiron.

Names and places include Geneva, where the car was launched; Chantilly; the Paul Ricard circuit; and, of course, the car managed a 300-mph run at the Ehra-Lessien testing track. Bugatti’s historic home in Molsheim is mentioned, as well as the iconic Château Saint Jean and Cape Canaveral where customers experienced the Chiron’s top speed.

A handwritten “500” mark also decorates various parts of the car to symbolize its specialness, including the exterior, wheel caps, rear wing, seats, and W-16 engine cover. The French flag adorns the door mirrors, and the horseshoe grille is finished in Atlantic Blue paint with stripes. Inside, the car is matched with deep blue leather and carbon fiber accents.

This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June.”

As previously mentioned, Bugatti will now move on to an all-new car with an all-new hybrid V-16 powertrain that’s said to promise up to 1,800 horsepower of total output, and will rev up to 9,000 rpm. As iconic as a W-16 Chiron Super Sport might be, it sounds like Bugatti already has something better on the way.
