Ford Focus ST Production Has Officially Ended in Europe
While it survived an extra generation in Europe, Ford has now officially put an stop to the party, ending production of another hot hatch.

The final Ford Focus ST has been produced, according to a story from The Drive.
Ford canceled the Focus for North America in 2018, but the popular hatchback soldiered on for another generation in Europe.
While the last Focus ST we got in the U.S. was terrific, the final generation for Europe was even more so, producing a stout 276 horsepower.
When Ford announced that Europe would be getting another generation of both the Focus and the Fiesta after both models were unceremoniously killed off in North America, it felt as if they could stick around for eternity. Not so. According to The Drive, the final Focus ST rolled off the production line in Germany last week. Ford had previously announced that Focus production would end in November.

The last Focus ST sold in the United States was a spitfire that muscled out 252 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Zero to 60 mph was achievable in the low-six-second range, and it took corners with the best of them.
When the 2019 car arrived for Europe, it did so after undergoing a transformational growth spurt. The fourth generation was simultaneously much more muscular and much more grown-up. Instead of plodding along with the same turbo 2.0-liter, Ford dropped in a detuned version of the Focus RS’s 2.3-liter that made 276 horsepower. Changes didn’t stop there, with the Focus ST gaining a new torque-vectoring differential and fiddling with the ride.
After driving the car in 2019, we came away with one key takeaway: the Focus ST’s biggest problem was one of availability. We couldn’t get our hands on it in the United States. Unfortunately, that problem now extends to everyone, save for cars on the used market. Here’s to keeping more hot hatches around.
