The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance—a cornerstone of Monterey Car Week—has reigned supreme as the benchmark for historical automotive excellence and high-society automotive patronage. However, in recent years, a significant shift has occurred in the luxury car landscape. High-end buyers and major manufacturers are increasingly pivoting toward events that celebrate new technological marvels rather than just vintage steel. This paradigm shift is precisely why the 2026 Las Vegas Concours (officially known as Concours at Wynn Las Vegas) is poised to unseat The Quail, an established favorite for showcasing new supercars. From my perspective as a veteran in the automotive industry with a decade of experience navigating luxury automotive marketing, the recent evolution of events like the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas reflects a fundamental transformation in the tastes of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and global automakers. This article explores the critical factors propelling the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas into the forefront of automotive luxury, detailing the reasons why The Quail may need to reckon with a new king of the new-model kingdom. Understanding the Evolution of Luxury Automotive Gatherings For the uninitiated, the term concours d’elegance is typically defined as a competition where participants are primarily judged on the aesthetic appearance and preservation of their vehicles. This has traditionally centered around classic and vintage automobiles, emphasizing historical significance and craftsmanship. Classic car sales, particularly high-value collector cars, are a cornerstone of the industry. Buyers seeking these cars often rely on expert valuations and best valuation services to ensure they are purchasing genuine masterpieces.
Historically, Monterey Car Week has been the absolute center of this universe. It comprises a full suite of events, with the Pebble Beach Concours being the definitive Sunday culmination. For decades, this event symbolized automotive royalty. However, what we’re seeing now is a split in the automotive audience. The traditional collector base continues to support Pebble Beach, and for good reason. It remains unparalleled for its collection of historic cars. Yet, the emergence of modern automotive billionaires has created a new demand—one not satisfied by vintage vehicles. These buyers are focused on the cutting edge: the latest hypercar sales, supercar valuations, and luxury vehicle market trends. For them, The Quail (full title: The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering) has long served as a critical automotive investment opportunity. It acts as a prestigious venue for manufacturers to debut new, high-end models, often before their general public unveiling. The death of the Geneva International Auto Show further solidified The Quail’s position by removing a major platform for showcasing new technology. The 2026 Lambo sales at The Quail, the debut of the 2026 Bugatti Aventador replacement, and other premieres made it the definitive “new-car” concours. But that throne is now being challenged, not by a competitor focused on the same niche, but by a force capitalizing on the sheer scale of the luxury market. The Power of the Las Vegas Concours: A New Model for Luxury Automotive Events When I attended the 2025 Las Vegas Concours last Halloween, the difference from its predecessor in 2024 was striking. In 2024, the event still felt regional if not slightly provincial. But the 2025 iteration transformed into something truly monumental. It was not just a display of impressive cars; it was a demonstration of organizational prowess and financial commitment that caught the automotive world by surprise. The Scale of Automotive Excellence One of the most overwhelming aspects of the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is its sheer size. Take the Bugatti Veyron display, for instance. The Wynn had an astonishing 48 Veyrons on the lawn. Considering that only 450 total Veyrons were built, and 100 were sold in North America, having nearly 11% of the entire production volume in one location is mind-boggling. Adding to this display were 49 other Bugatti models, including the white Vitesse Super Sport celebrating the Veyron’s 20th anniversary, a Bolide, Centodieci, Chiron Super Sport, Divo, Mistral, and a model of the upcoming 18-cylinder hybrid Tourbillon. Displaying over 10% of all Bugatti Veyrons ever built in one place is a statement of dominance in the luxury market. A Feast for Pagani Enthusiasts The kids love Paganis, too, and this concourse delivered in spades. There were more than 40 Pagani models on display, creating the largest gathering of Paganis ever assembled in North America. While I didn’t get an exact count, I was too busy drooling over the Veyrons to tally them. What I did count were several Zondas, including a Zonda Revolution (one of only five ever made), dozens of Huayras, a bunch of Utopias, and—signaling a major shift in automotive investment—the debut of the Huayra Codalunga Speedster. Pagani plans to produce only 10 units of this speedster, each priced at approximately $7 million before tax and tariffs. The example on display belonged to Apple’s Tim Cook, highlighting the caliber of collectors attending the event. Horatio Pagani himself was honored for his contributions to car design and chose this event to debut a significant model. Even if these carbon-fiber extroverts are not to everyone’s taste, the fact that the 2025 Las Vegas Concours hosted both the largest Pagani gathering in North America and served as a debut venue for Horatio Pagani and his team speaks volumes about the growing prestige of the event. Lamborghini’s Unprecedented Showcase If one is a fan of these types of vehicles, the Lamborghini section was simply mind-blowing. The 2025 Wynn Las Vegas Concours hosted the largest gathering of Lamborghinis ever—by a significant margin. While again, I didn’t count, the consensus hovered around 230 vehicles. This comprised 230 of the 600 cars present that Saturday, a number that defies comprehension in the context of luxury car dealerships.
Among these iconic Italian machines were a Veneno Coupe (one of only three ever sold to the public; the factory keeps one), a Sesto Elemento (one of ten), a Centenario coupe (one of 20) and convertible (one of 20), and a Reventón (one of 21). The last time all these limited-edition models (as Lamborghini now calls them) were seen together was at the factory museum. This display was a flabbergasting demonstration of precious, high-horsepower Italian metal and composites, signaling that the 2026 Ferrari price of $1 million+ is only the beginning. A Comprehensive Snapshot of Automotive Excellence While I am deliberately leaving out a complete list of all the vehicles to maintain readability, the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas offers a mind-bending variety of automotive excellence. To understand the scope of this event, consider the following additions: Koenigsegg models that push the boundaries of automotive R&D and vehicle performance. The Gumpert Apollo, a legendary hypercar known for its exclusivity and aggressive styling. Czingers, showcasing advanced lightweight design and manufacturing processes. Nilu, representing another niche leader in the luxury segment. The McLaren Project Endurance race car debut, highlighting the intersection of automotive engineering and motorsport technology. An extensive judging section that included a former and insane Pebble Beach Concours-winning 1929 Mercedes-Benz 680 S Barker Tourer 26/120/180, which took home the Pre-War Best of Show here. This demonstrates that while the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is increasingly focused on new cars, it has not forgotten its roots in classic car valuation. The HWA EVO, a highly anticipated tribute to the legendary Mercedes-AMG 190E 2.5-16. A Mercedes-AMG One, a road-legal Formula 1-derived hypercar that redefines performance metrics. Two Oldsmobile Aerotechs, celebrating American speed records and vehicle technology. A McLaren F1, arguably one of the most iconic supercars of all time, representing the pinnacle of automotive innovation in the 1990s. That’s just scratching the surface. It’s one hell of a car show. What Could Possibly Be Next in Automotive Luxury? Two major conversations kept coming up when I spoke with fellow attendees at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. The first, and perhaps most obvious question, was: “How the hell are they going to top this next year?” No one has the answer, but godspeed to the Wynn team for setting such an ambitious standard for vehicle maintenance and presentation. The second, and frankly far more intriguing query, came from the OEM carmakers: “Should we even bother doing The Quail next year?” Good question. Perhaps I should offer godspeed to The Quail, too. The Cost of Participation in Luxury Automotive Events
The stark difference in cost is one of the most significant factors in this evolving landscape. A single ticket for The Quail
